Good lord, I’m still exhausted.
I, for a change, crawled out of my isolation chamber and ventured out into the world in which I used to be a regular citizen. Fandom.
The second annual SiouxperCon was held on May 12th, 13th, and 14th at the Best Western Plus Ramkota Hotel in Sioux Falls, SD and even though I haven’t been to a convention in, yeesh, twenty plus years, it was a smooth slide back.
And one would never know it was only the second year. The crew working there did a helluva good job and I’m not just saying that because I knew some of them beforehand. (plus, most of them were via Facebook and that doesn’t count, does it?) To read more about the organizers of the event click HERE. And if you don’t click I want to make sure you know that it is a non-profit event with the proceeds going to two great charities, REACH Literacy and the JY6 Foundation.
Links abound for pictures from the event on Instagram and Facebook and such so I encourage you to look some up. I would show you the ones I snapped, but I forgot to take my camera. I’m smart like that.
I can, however, show some pics of the sweet swag and many purchases I made while there! So I will! (I am in serious need of a new camera so please be kind)

First up is the aforementioned swag I got from the con for buying a Legendary level ticket (see title of post).
The two big rectangles are the a nice and sturdy lid and box that contained the red t-shirt, a sticker, and two pins with the SiouxperCon logo. Also in the box was a multi-sided gaming die in the yellow and red colors of the con. In addition, I received a gaming mat and poster all with art and design by Jason Folkerts. The poster was signed and numbered by Jason. And of course, I was given my Legendary status badge. With a lanyard of which Agent Koenig would approve. Cause I’m awesome.
A really nice program/comic book with info on the panel schedule, guest, sponsors, and what have you was available at registration. I used mine as an opportunity to collect autographs of the con guests. Plus, I had Jason Folkerts sign the cover.
I also had a few of the people who made the whole thing happen sign, including founder of the con, Brian Breokemeier; guru of the Facebook group Geekville, Shane Gerlach; fellow Geekville denizen, Tyson Wharton; and one of my ol’ buds dating back to the Boiler Room days in Brookings, Derek Magnus. Big thanks to them and the rest of gang who made it all possible. All y’all rocked it.
In my next installment the guests of the con will be featured and more stuff will be shown. STAY TUNED!
